If you recall, this morning I had a walkthrough of some areas of the the single member district with Gerard Brown, from the Department of Health. While we didn't walk the entire SMD, it gave a snapshot of the problem we are experiencing in the community and I also alerted him to additional areas that need inspection and treatment. Thank you to those who reached out to me with additional areas of concern.
We found several areas where we could visibly tell that rats had burrowed into the earth as well as bitten into trash cans.
Please remember that we must all be stewards of our community and keep our yards and alleyways clean of litter, especially food particles. Our trash and recycling cans should have lids that fit neatly and if not, have the trash or recycling can repaired or replaced.
Please return trash and recycling cans into your yards after they are collected as soon as possible to avoid fines. If you need assistance, please let me know.
Going forward, I have arranged for the Department of Health to come back out on November 3, 2021 beginning at 10am to treat specific areas within ANC 4B06.

From there, I will inform DOH of the areas which need to be treated. Please be advised, if you want/need your yard (front or back) treated, a DOH official will need to enter your yard. If the yard is locked, they cannot enter and no treatment will occur. If you are not able to be home to open any gated areas on the 3rd, you can always enter a rodent abatement request via 311.
