The National Park Service (NPS) has announced deer management operations in Rock Creek Park from November 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. These operations involve deer sharpshooting to control the deer population and promote a healthier forest ecosystem.
Key Details:
Dates: November 1, 2024, through March 31, 2025.
Times: Operations will take place after sunset, during times when the park is officially closed.
Closures: Do not enter the park during closure hours for your safety.
These efforts are part of an ongoing initiative to address overpopulation and protect native plants, trees, and animal species that depend on a balanced ecosystem.
