Synopsis of ANC 4B06 December SMD Meeting

The ANC 4B06 December Single Member District (SMD) meeting, held on Monday, December 2nd, brought together neighbors to discuss key updates, address community concerns, and prepare for upcoming initiatives in 2025. The video can be found here.  Below are the highlights:

Toy Drive Update: Donations of coats, hats, gloves, and toys needed by December 16th for Capital City daycare.


Trash Collection Issues: Missed collections reported; residents alerted to use 311 for reporting. Leaf collection schedule shared.


Solar Energy Discussion: Tiffani presented on solar energy costs, benefits, and the 'Solar for All' program.


Traffic Safety Concerns: Concerns about stop sign violations at 4th and Nicholson; police presence and traffic cameras requested for safety.

Action items

  • Collect new or lightly used coats, hats, gloves, and toys for the toy drive by the deadline (17:13)

  • Submit testimony regarding the D.C. council roundtable on collaboration with the National Park Service (18:05)

  • Reach out to MPD regarding traffic safety concerns at the intersection of 4th and Nicholson (41:28)

  • Follow up with DPW regarding damaged trash cans and request replacements if necessary (36:11)


Residents are encouraged to stay engaged by attending the next ANC 4B Community Safety and Support Committee meeting on December 19, 2024, joining advocacy efforts, and continuing to share their ideas for improving our SMD.
